Thanks for using the Bookshelf Muse as a resource for your writing & teaching! It is such an honor to serve so many great bloggers and to have such a wonderful & supportive following. I hope you continue to enjoy the thesaurus collections as I roll them out as well as the other posts on various aspects of writing.

I can’t think of any better way to celebrate this huge number than by holding a contest for my followers with some MASSIVE prizes!

Here’s what you can win:

— A FULL NOVEL Critique (WC Max 85,000) I will read your complete novel and offer wide-angle feedback that will help you build a stronger product, including a focus on Characters, Description, Character Arc, Plot, Dialogue, Proportion, Style, Stakes, Resolution & Voice. You’ll get 100% honesty from me on how to strengthen your book. Please note that this prize is not for first draft novels. Your work must be at the point where Grammar/Spelling/structure issues do not detract from the read. The more polished it is, the more you will benefit from my critique. All genres welcome except for Erotica.

    I love your emotion thesaurus. I’m a teacher and I’ve shared it with my entire staff. I’m finishing up a middle grade novel and I’ve referred to it many times to get ideas!

    To answer your questions, what I will likely do is the first name I draw I will award the fullMS critique to and give them a ‘first right of refusal’, meaning that if they do not have anything suitable for critique, they can pass it to another winner and choose one of the other prizes.

    Should someone win who has a MS needing critique but it needs a bit of work to polish it up first, that’s fine as well. The winner and I will determine a time frame for the novel to be submitted.

    As for Facebook links, unless we’re friendsies, I can’t see it, but I’ll take you at your word, so no worries! (feel free to friend me though if you like–I love FB friends!) You can find your way to me by using the link in the sidebar to our Bookshelf Muse Group on Facebook!

    I do have a question about the prizes involving critiques: what if someone does not have anything that far polished and ready to go? When would the prize “expire?”

    I say this in the vain hope of winning one, but I don’t have anything beyond first and second draft ready to go.

    is there any way to enter for only some of the prizes? because they sound really cool, but my book isn’t written yet, nor has any of it been revised. i wouldn’t want to get a prize that i wouldn’t use, thus preventing someone else who would love to get it from getting it.
