I am awestruck. Wow, what an incredible milestone!
Thanks for using the Bookshelf Muse as a resource for your writing & teaching! It is such an honor to serve so many great bloggers and to have such a wonderful & supportive following. I hope you continue to enjoy the thesaurus collections as I roll them out as well as the other posts on various aspects of writing.
I can’t think of any better way to celebrate this huge number than by holding a contest for my followers with some MASSIVE prizes!
Here’s what you can win:
— A FULL NOVEL Critique (WC Max 85,000) I will read your complete novel and offer wide-angle feedback that will help you build a stronger product, including a focus on Characters, Description, Character Arc, Plot, Dialogue, Proportion, Style, Stakes, Resolution & Voice. You’ll get 100% honesty from me on how to strengthen your book. Please note that this prize is not for first draft novels. Your work must be at the point where Grammar/Spelling/structure issues do not detract from the read. The more polished it is, the more you will benefit from my critique. All genres welcome except for Erotica.
–A Copy of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins.
— A Writer’s Gift Box Enjoy a fun box of goodies just in time for the holidays, filled with things a writer will enjoy!
— A First Chapter Inline Critique A line edit of your first chapter, with emphasis on your hook and building a strong compelling start to your book. All genres welcome except for Erotica. (I’ll give out 2 of these)

and i will post about this contest
http://www.dorksideoftheforce.blogspot.com/
I love your emotion thesaurus. I’m a teacher and I’ve shared it with my entire staff. I’m finishing up a middle grade novel and I’ve referred to it many times to get ideas!
I’m now a public follower and I’ve listed you on my blog! How many entries could that be?:) Thanks
S. Slates
Yay! I’m a follower now! What a great milestone!
And I’m linking on my sidebar too- yahoo!
Wow tons of entries! Keep em coming!
To answer your questions, what I will likely do is the first name I draw I will award the fullMS critique to and give them a ‘first right of refusal’, meaning that if they do not have anything suitable for critique, they can pass it to another winner and choose one of the other prizes.
Should someone win who has a MS needing critique but it needs a bit of work to polish it up first, that’s fine as well. The winner and I will determine a time frame for the novel to be submitted.
As for Facebook links, unless we’re friendsies, I can’t see it, but I’ll take you at your word, so no worries! (feel free to friend me though if you like–I love FB friends!) You can find your way to me by using the link in the sidebar to our Bookshelf Muse Group on Facebook!
Oh I am excited! Are you excited? I can’t wait to award these prizes!!
I am adding to my previous entry, I now have your blog linked in my sidebar (along with, following, the blog post, and facebook link listed in my last comment)
I don’t think I’ve posted on here before, but I use the site very often. 😀
It is fantastically useful! 😀
I’ve posted a link to this on facebook before. How do I show that on here? 🙂
Ok I’m following you now, so I guess this is my entry
What an awesome contest. I always have you bookmarked but now I am an official follower..that’s 1
I added you in the sidebar on my blog that’s 3 more
http://wilmaswimzees.blogspot.com/
and I posted on facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?ref=profile&id=1180029605
So that’s 5, I think. But I am hungry. LOL
Thanks bunches!
I am a follower 🙂
I do have a question about the prizes involving critiques: what if someone does not have anything that far polished and ready to go? When would the prize “expire?”
I say this in the vain hope of winning one, but I don’t have anything beyond first and second draft ready to go.
What an accomplishment! Congrat’s!
I’m now a follower, posted a link on my blog AND put your contest on my blog’s sidebar!
Hello!
I just followed you so 1 entry for me! 🙂
Congratulations on hitting the 100, 000 hits mark. And what a fantastic contest, too!!
Hi there – okay, one entry for being a follower and one for posting on my blog – http://www.theblackquillcrits.blogspot.com
Thanks for doing the contest!
Congratulations on getting 100,000 hits! That’s amazing. I’m now following too.
I’m your 298th Follower! Many thanks to Lisa Amowitz for pointing me in your direction. I’m impressed with the info you offer.
You’re now in the side bar of my writing blog, blog.debsalisbury.com and I’ll be adding you to my ‘links for writers’ post tonight.
Congrats on 100,000 hits!!!
What an awesome contest! I’m following now (Though I don’t write novels so you might not want to enter me)
Congrats busy lady! I have tweeted, blogged about this on Muse Mountain and Mountain Muses and on Facebook. Have a great Thanksgiving!
Not sure if a link on CC counts. If it does, then I guess that would be three for me. 🙂
What a smorgasbord of goodies! Have linked on my twitter, Muse Mountain blog and facebook! You are a busy lady! Have a great Thanksgiving.
Yeah, Angela! What an outstanding achievement. You rock girl. 🙂
Anyway, I guess I’m more of a lurker/stalker than a follower at present, seeing as I don’t drop by regularly. Hope that counts for one.
You are linked on my Facebook account:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?v=info&ref=profile&id=687231845
That should count for two.
No blog yet as I don’t think anyone would want to read about my boring life and I don’t Tweet or have a site, so I guess that’s about all I can enter.
Keep up the excellent work. I recommend the site every chance I get. 🙂
I am a follower, posted a blurb on my blog (http://beautyofthewrittenword.blogspot.com/2009/11/tuesday-but-no-teaser-yet.html) complete with a link back to this contest and posted the link on my Facebook.
Congratulations on snatching those hits! I love this blog and recommended it to my critique group. Now,I’m a follower and I added your link on my blog’s sidebar. I’ll write a post about your contest and send word on to fellow writers. Will also mention it on my Facebook. Hey…how many entries does that make? Great idea for a contest.
What a great message to wake up to!
I am a follower

Hey, Congratulations, Angela. I’m a follower and you’ve been on my sidebar since I first started my blog. I’ve added a new post to this contest on the top page of my blog. I’ve Twittered it, and Added a link to Face book. I’ve also added a link to my Aussie group of authors Down Under. I’ll go and twitter again now. Anything I’ve forgotten?

Kewl contest! I follow you. Sometimes it borders on stalking. 🙂
And can I just say that you read my first chapter when I won a different contest and it was awesome. So this is a great prize for whoever wins!

Kathy
Hi! I Twittered, Facebooked, linked you to BOTH my blogs…

I’m a follower and have shared this via my blog and my facebook.
You, as always, are my first port of call when I”m trying to work out what the heck my character is doing with their body/face. I am a stalker big time. Congrats on the 100,000 hits.
Im a follower now 😀 XD
And congrats on all those hits! 😀
I’m following
You are in my sidebar as you always have been! I love this site, I use it for body language and emotions all the time.
Ooh! I wanna win!
Okay – I’m a follower, I am linking on twitter (@lchardesty), I will post on my blog (lchardesty.blogspot.com), and I will figure out how to link you in my sidebar as soon as I figure out how…LOL.
okay, and finally, posted to my LJ, which actually has higher traffic than the blog:
http://nthdraft.livejournal.com/53630.html
so that makes (count fingers) twelve! Twelve points! Mu ha ha ha ha… Or maybe four. Close enough.
What do you want, I’m an ENGLISH MAJOR, I don’t do math… /snerk
HOORAY, and congratulations! 😀
I just became a follower!
I’ve done it — I’ve tweeted about you! (And I didn’t even need my kids to show me how to do this.) A red-letter day for me too!
I am one of your followers. I feel we should get robes with hoods, or at least a shiny pin to put on our lapels.
Your blog is a viable and extremely helpful resource which I actually keep open constantly in case I find myself needing help.
And for double points: Blog post!
Okay, Angela – I’m a member, You’re on my sidebar, I’ve linked to you on my blog post, and you’ll be on my facebook by the end of the day. Sadly, I don’t even know what a Livejournal is – bummer! Oh, well…6 out of 7 isn’t bad! 😉
YIKES! I totally forgot Livejournal and sidebar linkage! I’ve added these now, including 3 extra entries bonus for a sidebar link!
Thanks everyone for the kind words and constant support! You are awesome!
WHOOHOO!!! That’s so awesome! You deserve that many hits because it’s a fab resource.
1) I’m already a follower (although I tend to lurk)
2) I’ve just twittered about the comp (unsure how to link but I’m under Nayuleska)
3) I’ve just put a post on review blog link is here….
http://nayusreadingcorner.blogspot.com/2009/11/great-competition-on-different-blog.html
Yay, congratulations — and those prizes sound fantastic! I am a follower — that’s one entry, right?
And tonight I will link to this post on Twitter — I’ve got a class to teach or I’d do it right now!
For anyone who’s thinking about entering but not sure, I can attest to Angela’s critiquing ability. That’s the one I’m aiming for…
addendum: not only did I post a link to the contest (point 2 for me!) but I’ve also added The Bookshelf Muse to my sidebar, right under the links to my other book projects.
here’s the link to the link:
http://arlenecharris.blogspot.com/2009/11/shut-up-its-contest.html
I am also a follower on RSS, so 1 point for me. But I would be hapy also to link to this on my blog. However I don’t do Twitter or Facebook.
Would Livejournal serve instead?
off to post link on blog…
ps Congratulations!
You have a fantastic site, Angela, and so I am not surprised one bit.
Those are some generous prizes … count me in.
Whee, contest!
I’m a follower, and I also blogged about the context over at Inkfever 🙂
Congrats on the milestone, and thanks so much for creating such an amazing resource 🙂
I’m a proud follower of The Bookshelf Muse – hip-hip-hooray! 😉
Now,I have to go make a couple of links to please the prize fairy!
http://www.shannonkodonnell.blogspot.com
is there any way to enter for only some of the prizes? because they sound really cool, but my book isn’t written yet, nor has any of it been revised. i wouldn’t want to get a prize that i wouldn’t use, thus preventing someone else who would love to get it from getting it.
i’m a follower!
don’t put me in the drawing if what i mentioned earlier doesn’t work
Woo Hoo!
That’s awesome :o) The link will appear in tomorrow’s post!! Love this blog- and I’m thrilled you made it to 100,000 hits! Congratulations
:o)
Hey, I need all the help I can get! I’m entering full boar! (Bore? Told you I need help!)
Congrats too!
Awesome! Congrats, Angela. I’m already a follower so count me in 🙂
I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’ll step aside on the entry (FANTASTIC prizes!!!!), but I am so thrilled & not at all surprised TBM has reached so many people. Congrats, Angela!!
I’m a follower, so there’s one entry for me. ^^
Wow! What an incredible giveaway–I’m a follower, so +1. Will return with my blog and twitter links when I do them. 🙂
Congratulations on 100,000 hits. That’s awesome. Let me be the first to shout it out.
I’m a follower of the Bookshelf Muse! Woohoo!
I’m a follower, or esteemed stalker as you call them.
Hey! I’m a follower! So there’s one entry for me. Yay!

I love this site, and am thrilled that you’ve git 100,000 hits. What a tremendous milestone!
I regularly follow your blog via RSS and often find myself here when looking for that little bit of inspiration. I enjoy recommend your site in crits as well – I have a couple of crit partners that didn’t know you existed and were thrilled to find such a helpful and easy-to-use website. 🙂
