Helping writers become bestselling authors

OPERATION: HELP THE ELF!

December 3, 2012 by BECCA PUGLISI

Oh No!

Pete the Elf had one too many eggnogs at the Santa’s Workshop Christmas Bash and as he wobbled home, he dropped Santa’s Naughty & Nice List. As luck would have it, he managed to collect the Naughty List before the North wind blew in, but the Nice list scattered in its wake.

If Pete doesn’t recover Santa’s Nice List in time, he could be out of a job! We can’t let that happen–he has a wife, a pet hamster and six elf-lets to feed!

Will you help? If you think you know someone (a writer, book blogger, critique partner or good friend) who should be on Santa’s Nice List this year, please fill out this simple form below. On December 19th, all of us will help Pete keep his job by spreading cheer for him through small gifts of ebooks, free ecards or other small kindnesses. Hopefully Santa will be none the wiser!

Will you join us on this secret mission to supply the missing NICE LIST?

If so, fill out this form for OPERATION: HELP THE ELF! and if you like, add your blog to the linky list below. If you don’t have a blog, no worries! You can still participate 🙂

My name is in this book!

Becca and I are committed to making sure Pete saves Christmas. Please join us! We have a small gift for all participants, but even better, YA author Marilee Brothers is offering up AN AMAZING PRIZE: the chance to  have a character named after you in her next book!

I won this honor a few years ago, and what a thrill! —->

Let’s spread some joy to someone we’ve met online and let them know how special they are!

(Do you know someone else who might wish to participate in the fun, too? We appreciate your tweets or if you want to post about this event, just snag our HELP THE ELF blog badge and link to this post so others can sign up! Let’s make this the biggest, best event ever!)

PLEASE NOTE: With the linky tool, put your name & blog URL if you have one, not the person you will choose to surprise with a gift or card.  We want this to stay a nice surprise for them on the 19th. The linky tool will allow visitors to check our YOUR blog to see which writing friend you feature! 🙂

***** Don’t forget to fill out the form ABOVE so I can email you more details!

In the form, I need YOUR name and Email, so I can send more info on the project. For the linky thing on the post, I need YOUR name and Your blog address if you have one. This is so people can visit your blog on the 19th and see who you chose to be on ‘The Nice List’. 🙂

This looks great! 😀 I am a little confused though. Do we enter OUR names and e-mail addresses in the form or the person we think should be on the nice list? :/

You’ve made this so easy for us to participate. If we can’t do a blog post, there are lots of other ways to be a fun little elf. Thanks so much, Angela! You rock!

    HI Michelle,

You can choose whoever you like to surprise with a gift. 🙂 Just don’t tell them until the 19th so it stays a surprise, fill out the form in this post (so I can send instructions via email) and if you add your name to the link list, Make sure it is YOUR name & YOUR blog URL, not theirs. 🙂

If you make a mistake you can delete it and try again, no problem. 🙂

    Love the idea, but wait:
“…the chance to be named after a character in her next book!”
But Angela, I don’t want to be named after a character! I already have a name!

    😛

Really, this is a Totally Awesome idea. I have just the person in mind, too. Very exciting!!!

    Hi Linda,

Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough–you fill out the FORM above AND add YOU BLOG & NAME to the linky tool, not your recipient. This way we can keep the fact that you are giving them a gift or card a surprise until the 19th, make sense?

I added a clarification to how this works just so there is no confusion.

Hopefully I did this right. I added a great blogger I met recently to the linky, but added my own email address. This friend does great book reviews, but right now is going through a rough time. Please let me know if I did something wrong…I’ll come back to check. Thanks! Love this idea!

Hi Kristen, hopefully as many people as we can gather. It would be great to see a lot of people be honored on the 19th. Those who participate can choose to send them something free, like an ecard or special greeting, or something inexpensive, like an ebook. These ‘gifts’ will be delivered on Dec 19th along with a blog post, Facebook or email message that explains why this person is on the “Nice List” (maybe they have been super supportive all year, or a great critique partner, etc.) It’s a way for us to thank someone special in our lives. 🙂 Just fill out the form and I’ll send more info!

Woot, Jami & Matt! That’s great! This will be a BLAST!
