FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 20th, 2023: One Million Books Sold: A Milestone for Self-Published Co-Authors Becca Puglisi and Angela Ackerman

American author Becca Puglisi and her Canadian counterpart Angela Ackerman have reached a major milestone with their Writers Helping Writers® Description Thesaurus Series, selling over one million copies. This collection of unusual writing guides spans ten volumes and is available in nine languages, helping writers across the globe create stronger, more engaging fiction.

Since 2012, when Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi self-published their flagship book, The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Character Expression, the two have pulled back the curtain on an often-problematic area of writing: show, don’t tell. The popularity of this series centers on the authors’ ability to dive deeply into a specific area of description and pair this with brainstorming lists of how to describe that element more effectively in a story. Over the years, their exploration of key writing topics has led many to coin their work as “the Gold Standard” of writing guides.

From that first publication to their most recent release, The Conflict Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Obstacles, Adversaries, and Inner Struggles, these co-authors have consistently delivered insight that helps writers transform their storytelling. These popular thesauruses also form the heart of One Stop for Writers®, a powerful web app the two helped co-found.

“This milestone—it’s one of those pinch-me-I’m-dreaming moments,” said Becca. “But even more rewarding is the knowledge that each of those books has helped an author improve their craft. Angela and I know about the writer’s journey and what a long a difficult road it can be. We’re excited to have been able to help shorten the learning curve for so many others so they can achieve their goals.”

As these cross-border co-authors celebrate this achievement, they are also looking forward to producing more writing guides, expanding the even larger thesaurus database located at One Stop for Writers, and educating creatives through their blog, Writers Helping Writers.
